Wellington Alves

Integrated Researcher
Wellington Alves is an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. He serves as Vice-Director and is an integrated researcher at CIICESI – the Research Centre for Innovation and Research in Business Sciences and Information Systems at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Minho in 2018, with research focused on assessing the sustainability of the mining sector. He has participated in multiple international conferences has authored publications in both international conferences and scientific journals. Additionally, he is a researcher at the Algoritmi Research Centre of the University of Minho.
He has actively participated in national and international R&D projects, serving as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator in several initiatives, including OPTISUS, FERROVIA 4.0, SINOPROVC, and OPTIMOB-@I.PT.
Currently, his scientific research focuses on sustainability, circular economy, green logistics, and sustainable mobility. His main research interests include:
