PEGADAS - Pegadas na raia: Aprendizaje experiencial transfronterizo para jóvenes
In a demanding and ever-changing labor market scenario, young people face access barriers that make it difficult for them to find their first job, and which sometimes discourage them from continuing their studies or job search. The aim of the PEGADAS project is to carry out mini expeditions along the Camino de Santiago to promote youth employability while also highlighting the cultural value of the Camino.
To achieve this, a training itinerary will be developed based on three pillars: entrepreneurship, digitalization, and sustainability.
Before starting each itinerary, the young participants will receive training on these three topics. During each itinerary (5 days of training), they will receive complementary training in digital skills, engage in activities at the places they visit to deepen their understanding of the Camino de Santiago’s culture (for example, making Portuguese tiles, harvesting Padrón peppers, visiting local organizations and social entrepreneurship initiatives), and produce a short film to summarize their learning and simultaneously promote the Camino.
The expeditions will be carried out in mixed groups of Galician and Portuguese youth, providing an opportunity to deepen cultural exchange between the two countries.
Currently, young people from Galicia and Portugal have limited awareness of their social and cultural heritage. This project aims to take them out of their comfort zones, extract valuable knowledge, and lay the foundations for a more resilient, ecological, and culturally aware society through unique cross-border experiences. The project will create training opportunities for young people aged 18 to 29, with special focus on NEETs (youth not in education, employment, or training), those at risk of early school leaving, and young people from rural areas.
