Telma Mendes

Integrated Researcher
My academic background lies in the intersection between economics, business, and management. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Sciences (2017), a Master's degree in International Management (2020), and a Ph.D. in Economic Analysis and Business Strategy (2023) from the University of Vigo – Vigo, Spain. In 2019, I joined the School of Technology and Management, as an Assistant Professor and, more recently, I became an Invited Adjunct Professor (2023). During my academic and scientific career, I have focused on different aspects of management, namely those related to internationalization, inter-firm collaboration, innovation, strategy, and sustainable practices. These subjects deserved both a qualitative and quantitative approach, to explore the phenomena from different perspectives. Currently, I have been accumulating some management positions within academia. Since 2023, I have been a Subdirector of the Higher Professional Course in Management and Business of SME, as well as a Subdirector of the Master’s in International Management. Additionally, I became an integrated researcher at the Centre of Innovation and Research in Business Sciences and Information Systems (CIICESI), and I am also a collaborator researcher at the Research Group in Energy, Innovation, and Environment (REDE-ECOBAS). I am also directly involved in the career development of many researchers as co-supervisor of their research (Master's degree: 3 ongoing). I have contributed to the scientific community in many ways: • Member of the scientific committee of one international conference. • Peer-review activities of several scientific journals. • My scientific production. • Participation as a jury of academic degrees. In what relates to my contribution to society, there are some aspects to highlight. By being a member of a scientific committee, I contributed to the selection of high-quality research papers for the international conference. The conference papers were able to influence policy-making decisions and industry practices, thereby contributing to societal progress and development. On the other hand, through peer-review activities, valuable feedback and suggestions were provided to researchers, helping them to improve their research and contributing to the overall growth of scientific understanding. Quality peer-reviewed publications serve as a vital resource for policymakers and industry practitioners, guiding the decision-making process. Serving as a jury for academic degrees involved evaluating the research work of candidates and determining their eligibility for academic qualifications. By maintaining high academic standards, juries uphold the reputation and credibility of educational institutions, which in turn enhances the value of academic degrees in society. Recognizing and rewarding academic achievement through the conferral of degrees encourages lifelong learning and scholarly pursuits, contributing to the intellectual and cultural enrichment of society. Overall, each of the above scientific activities contributes to society by advancing knowledge, upholding academic standards, fostering collaboration, and promoting the dissemination of reliable information, ultimately leading to societal progress and development. During the last five years (2018-2023), I have contributed to scientific production in the following ways: • 6 papers published in international scientific journals. • 1 book chapter. • 3 papers were published in indexed (ISI Web of Science/Scopus) conference proceedings. • More than 20 presentations at international scientific conferences.
