Lurdes Varregoso Mesquita

My academic background is in law, particularly in civil procedural law and European civil procedure. I have a degree in Law at Universidade Portucalense (1996); Master in Law - Civil Procedural Law at Coimbra Faculty of Law (2002); Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in: "New guidelines for Public Law before the European Union" at Universidade de Vigo (2006); PhD in Law at Universidade de Vigo (2011 / Registered at Oporto University n.º 158/2011, 28th Sep), with the thesis "The European Enforcement Order as an instrument of Civil Judicial Cooperation in theEuropean Union - Implications in Spain and Portugal", published by Almedina in 2012. I began my academic career in 1996 as an Assistant Lecturer in the UPT Law Department, where I graduated. I continue teaching at Universidade Portucalense as Adjunct Professor, and I am also a member of IJP, as an integrated researcher and as Coordinator of the Procedural Law Research Group. Between 2006 and 2020, I was an Adjunct Professor at the School of Management of the IPCA. Since 2020, I am Adjunct Professor at the School of Technology and Management of thePolytechnic Institute of Porto, where I am part of CIICESI as a collaborating research Over the years, I have held various management positions in academia, most of them related to team management. In particular, participation as a member of scientific and pedagogical bodie and my previous positions as Secretary and Advisor to the Head of the Department of Law, as Director of the Technological Specialization Course in Legal Services and as Director of the Master's Degree in Solicitors, have contributed to the professional development of many professionals, some of whom are still connected to academia and science. I currently coordinate the procedural law research group, where I have the opportunity to contribute to the development of this research area and its researchers. I have also been able to directly influence the career development of many researchers as a supervisor (PhDs: 1 completed and 1 in progress, with a grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology; Master's degrees: 13 completed and 4 in progress). I have also taken part in external exam boards for 2 Phd and 6 master's at national and foreign universities. I have contributed to the scientific community in many ways: As an expert on Agency for Assessment and Accreditation HE - A3ES; Scientific manager and organizer of several international congresses and seminars, including with call for papers; Editor and co-editor of collective books and 3 vol. of a special issue Peer Review activities; External Rapporteur for a research project managed by the Max Planck Institute Lux for Procedural Law; My scientific production; Member of the Scientific Committee of a legal journal and reviewer of several scientific papers; Participation in a few national and international projects, funded by institutions of a diverse nature; Erasmus mobility several times, in different countries; Participating as a jury in many national recruitment competitions and on expert title juries. My contribution to society results from: participation in evaluation committees that have contributed to the development of higher education; the results of research projects; ande the contribution to the application of the law in real cases, through the citation of scientific papers in higher courts. I have contributed to scientific production with more than 50 publications , including manuals, monographs, book chapters, articles in scientific journals and books of proceedings of national and international congresses. Participated, through peer-reviewed communications and also as a guest speaker, in congresses, conferences and seminars, in Portugal and abroad.
