International Workshop: “The Future of Agribusiness in the EU: Threats and Opportunities”
The event gathered members of the academic community, and from the master degree in international management, to discuss the significant changes happening in the food market and the implications of the EU’s Farm to Fork strategy for the future of agribusiness.
The invited speaker, Dr. Danilo Đokić, Assistant Professor at the University of Novi Sad’s Faculty of Economics in Subotica, Serbia, delivered an insightful talk addressing the critical shifts in European agribusiness. Dr. Đokić, who is also a valued researcher at CIICESI, shared his expertise on agricultural policy, productivity, and rural development in the context of the Western Balkans and the European Union.
During the workshop, Dr. Đokić emphasized the need to view the EU's environmental sustainability goals as both a challenge and an opportunity. He explained how technological advancements could play a vital role in ensuring the sustainability of food production while mitigating potential market instability.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Đokić met with members of CIICESI to explore collaboration opportunities between CIICESI and the University of Novi Sad. The discussions were highly productive, focusing on potential joint projects, publications, and strengthening our research network across both institutions.
Dr. Đokić’s talk not only highlighted the current challenges facing agribusiness but also opened the floor for a dynamic discussion on how academic research can contribute to innovative solutions for the sector. His extensive experience in agricultural policy and economics, particularly his coordination of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence: Sustainable Agriculture for a Greener Future – AgriGREEN, provided valuable insights to all participants.
We thank Dr. Danilo Đokić for his engaging presentation and look forward to continued collaboration with him and his team in the near future.
