The Tâmega e Sousa Internationalization Project promotes actions for the internationalization and exportation of products and services in the Tâmega e Sousa Region, through networking and cooperation initiatives aimed at bringing companies and entrepreneurs closer together in the challenge of achieving very positive cross-border goals for the region. knowledge of international opportunities, but also as a platform for the promotion of local companies. According to the Action Plan fort the Promotion of Entrepreneurship of Tâmega e Sousa in 2011, the weight of Tâmega e Sousa exports (TAMS.15; Pordata 2013) was 8% and 3%, respectively in the North and Portugal. even if the export intensity has been growing steadily, suggesting that the region has been turning more abroad. Thus, 5 entities with strong performance in the territory came together to develop, through a concerted strategy for internationalization, to develop a Project structured in 7 general actions that are subdivided into specific activities to be developed for 24 months.
The general actions of the project are as follows:
- Development of strategic study for the internationalization of the Tâmega e Sousa Region;
- Training for internationalization;
- Promotion of the Tâmega and Sousa Region in the Portuguese Diaspora;
- Promotion, knowledge and access to strategic international markets;
- International benchmarking and dissemination of good practices;
- Development of a platform for the international promotion of SMEs in the Tâmega e Sousa Region;
- Project management and monitoring.
Through its realization, it is considered possible to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity and consolidate the presence of regional companies in international markets, by taking advantage of the economic opportunities and challenges provided by the demanding global market and, at the same time, increasing the competitiveness and external reputation of products from the Tâmega and Sousa Region.
